Meeting Room Audio Upgrade
CAVT partnered with the Town of Merrimac to upgrade the Library’s Meeting Room with a reliable, easy-to-use AV system designed to support a wide range of community activities. The project focused on replacing outdated, portable setups with a permanent solution that delivers consistent audio performance, intuitive control, and a clean, professional installation.
The existing meeting room relied on portable AV equipment, resulting in inconsistent performance, time-consuming setup, and user frustration. The space required a permanent solution that could deliver professional-quality audio while remaining simple enough for everyday use by non-technical users.
Additionally, the system needed to integrate cleanly into the room’s architecture, including exposed beams and limited equipment space, while maintaining a polished and unobtrusive appearance.
CAVT designed and installed a fully integrated AV system centered around a DSP-controlled audio backbone, delivering reliable performance and simplified operation.
Key components of the solution included:
DSP-Controlled Audio System
A digital signal processor/control system was installed in a compact rack, serving as the central hub for all audio processing and system control. This allows for optimized audio performance while enabling seamless integration of all system components.
Distributed Speaker System
Eight surface-mounted speakers were strategically installed across the room’s exposed beam structure to provide balanced, consistent sound coverage. This ensures clear audio for both presenters and audience members, regardless of position within the space.
Amplification & Wireless Microphones
A dedicated QSC amplifier powers the speaker system, while a dual-channel wireless receiver supports two handheld microphones. A charging station eliminates the need for battery replacements, making the system more convenient and reliable for daily use.
User Control Interface
A 7” wall-mounted touch panel provides intuitive control over the entire system, allowing users to power the system on/off, adjust volume levels, and manage inputs with ease. PIN protection ensures secure operation while preventing unintended changes.
Audio Connectivity & Expansion
Wall-mounted XLR input and output plates were installed to support additional audio sources and enable event recording. This provides flexibility for future use cases and special events.
Optional Video Integration
The system design includes provisions for a ceiling-mounted projector, integrated through an HDMI wall plate and control system. This allows for seamless expansion into video presentation capabilities while maintaining a unified user interface.
Clean Installation & Equipment Rack
All equipment is housed in a compact, secure rack with locking doors and organized cable management. Wiring was routed cleanly along beams using paintable conduit to maintain the room’s aesthetic while ensuring long-term serviceability.
The upgraded meeting room now features a clean, reliable AV system that enhances every type of community event. Users can walk into the space, start the system with ease, and trust that it will perform consistently without additional setup or troubleshooting.
By replacing portable equipment with a permanent, professionally integrated solution, the Town of Merrimack has created a more functional and welcoming environment for meetings, workshops, and public gatherings. The system is intuitive, scalable, and built to support the needs of the community for years to come.
