One Campus, One AV Story – Campus-Wide AV Refresh

Emmanuel College partnered with CAVT totransform disparate AV systems across campus into a consistent, reliable, anduser-friendly experience. The goal was to create rooms that “justwork”—allowing professors, staff, and event organizers to start teaching orhosting with minimal setup and no troubleshooting. The initiative prioritizedsimplicity, consistency, and high-performance AV functionality acrossclassrooms, auditoriums, and event spaces.
Project Scope:
School-Wide AV Standardization & Modernization
Core Technology:
Sony VPL-HZ61 Projectors, Q-Sys Audio Systems, Vaddio Microphones, PTZ Cameras, Extron USB Extension, Epiphan Pearl 2, Crestron/iPadControl
Compliance:
N/A (Performance & Reliability Focused)
System Type:
Classrooms, Auditorium, Chapel, Event Spaces
Project Phase:
Installation, Programming, & System Standardization
Integrator:
CAVT
The campus previously featured a mix of outdated AV setups, inconsistent control interfaces, and unreliable audio/video performance. Faculty and staff faced frequent input confusion, audio issues, and complex system operation. Each room required a tailored solution to modernize equipment while maintaining usability and standardizing control across campus. Critical spaces, such as the auditorium and chapel, needed both advanced functionality and robust reliability for teaching, performances, and hybrid events.
CAVT executed a campus-wide AV refresh, focusing on both visible performance and behind-the-scenes reliability. Key interventions included:
Auditorium Upgrades
The lectern and 22” display output were restored to consistent operation. Owner-furnished devices—DM-TX-201, DM-RMC-SCALER-C, touch panel, flip-top connectivity, and gooseneck microphone—were integrated into a new lectern. Cabling was organized, power managed, and a protected “umbilical” connection to floor boxes was installed. Programming improvements enabled intelligent display routing during initialization and shutdown, while iPad X-panel control allowed remote operation over Wi-Fi.
Classroom Standardization
For Summer 2025 classroom updates, SonyVPL-HZ61 laser projectors replaced aging units in WSC Labs and MAR classrooms.CAVT reprogrammed each system with a simplified interface for input selection, power control, screen management, and volume. Core inputs were standardized(room PC, user device, document camera) to ensure each room is “teach-ready” from day one. Wiring inside cabinets was organized for maintenance efficiency.
Advanced Classroom Enhancements
EAB classrooms received expanded capabilities, including Vaddio microphones, PTZ cameras, Extron USB extension, and touch panel camera control with presets and zoom. WSC 102 was rebuilt with a Q-Sys system for integrated USB routing, new Sonance ceiling speakers, Shure MXA microphones, NV-32 routing, and dual Sony laser projectors, supporting hybrid workflows and high-performance instruction.
Chapel Modernization
The chapel transitioned from a mixer-based setup to a modern DSP-driven QSC system. Updates included altar monitor restoration, integration with fire alarm shutdowns, Shure wireless microphones, QSC amplification (CX-Q 4K8 and SPA-Qf 60x2), and streamlined charging/storage for rechargeable equipment. Two Panasonic PTZ cameras feeding an Epiphan Pearl 2, enabling automated streaming and recording, with optional ATEM Mini support for staffed events.
Campus-Wide Consistency & Reliability
All spaces were standardized for intuitive operation, clean cabling, and simplified control logic. Systems now support first-time users while retaining advanced functionality for high-stakes events. Remote monitoring through Q-Sys Reflect ensures proactive maintenance and system reliability.
Emmanuel College now benefits from a unified AV ecosystem where every room operates predictably and efficiently.Faculty can teach, staff can run events, and campus administrators can rely on consistent performance without technical headaches. From lecture halls to performance spaces, this campus-wide refresh has delivered:
● Simplified control and standardized user interfaces
● Modernized projection and laser-based display systems
● Smarter, DSP-driven audio for clarity and flexibility
● Reliable streaming and hybrid instruction capabilities
● Scalable infrastructure prepared for future AV upgrades
This approach turned Emmanuel College’s AV infrastructure into a seamless, campus-wide experience—moving from “every space is different” to “one campus, one AV story.”
